Arthur Culbert, chair of the St. Louis Exploratory Committee and Natalie Galucia, Member Services Coordinator, talk about The Village Movement, a national effort to support seniors in their communities.

Natalie Galucia, MSW has a background in social work and a passion for working with older adults.  She started her education at Concordia University in Wisconsin where she received her BSW in 2010.  Ms. Galucia then received her Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis in May of 2012.

At Washington University, she was able to focus on her passion for working with older adults and she concentrated in Gerontology with an emphasis on policy.  During her MSW program, she completed an internship in Washington, DC with Age4Action Network as a policy intern working on the reauthorization of the Older Americans Act.   Ms. Galucia  is honored to have her first full-time job as Member Services Coordinator with Village to Village Network.  She now resides in St. Louis, MO  where she is able to continue to learn about and spread knowledge of the Village Movement through her work with the first MO Village, STL Village which is in development and plans to open in June of 2014.

Arthur J. Culbert, M.S., Ph.D.
Dr. Arthur Culbert serves as Urban Farmer in Residence on the staff at New City School in the Central West End in St. Louis Missouri.  He is a trustee at the Saint Louis College of Pharmacy and holds faculty appointments at the Saint Louis School College for Public Health and Social Justice and at the University of Missouri School for the Health Professions. He chairs the Exploratory Committee of STL Village, an Aging in Place community expiated to open in St. Louis in 2014.


Dr. Culbert was the founding President and Chief Executive Officer of Health Literacy Missouri, our nation’s leader and the world’s largest non-profit community organization dedicated entirely to health literacy. During this time, Dr. Culbert served as a member of the Institute of Medicine’s Roundtable on Health Literacy and among other awards was designated Health Care Hero by the Saint Louis Business Journal.  Dr. Culbert continues to speak nationally and internationally on health literacy and advise large and small for profit and not for organizations on health literacy. Dr. Culbert resides in St. Louis with his wife and two daughters were he maintains an urban farm producing organic produce for two local food pantries.
